Tadao Ueshima, founder of the UCC Group, established "Ueshima Tadao Shoten" in Kobe in May 1933.
He devoted his whole life to coffee and in 1969 invented the world's first canned coffee, establishing coffee as a drink to be enjoyed anytime, anywhere. As well as taking UCC's business forward, Tadao Ueshima spent much time and effort on the establishment of the All Japan Coffee Association in 1980, and attained a successful track record in the development of the Japanese coffee industry as its first president. He earned plaudits both in Japan and overseas, and was fondly known as "the father of coffee in Japan".
The UCC Coffee Museum was established in 1987 in Kobe, the company's home city, with the aim of conveying Tadao Ueshima's lifetime passion for "delivering the wonders of coffee to as many people as possible".
