There are currently around 70 coffee-producing nations. These countries are concentrated in regions referred to as the Coffee Belt, which lies between 25 degrees north and 25 degrees south of the equator. Coffee trees cannot successfully be cultivated in areas where temperatures are too high or too low, so it is common for trees to be planted on the slopes of tall mountains in these tropical and subtropical regions.
