602:Coffee cup collection
It is not widely known that European porcelain actually has its roots in Japan. In 17th century Europe there was no technique for making porcelain, so porcelain Arita ware was imported from Japan. By copying these imports, Germany's Meissen achieved success in 1709 with production of porcelain like the articles exhibited here. This technique spread to many other countries, resulting in the creation of much pottery.
Coffee cups from Japan and around the world are on display here.
